The scientific name “Victoria Amazinica” was given by a pioneer
English botanist. Dr. John Lindley in honor of Queen Victoria
A native water lily of the Amazon region, South America. This giant water lily has the largest of all water lily
and lotus. The leaves are more than 2 m. and can hold a baby on its leaves, making them strong enough to bear
the weight of a child (about 5-8 kg.). It’s a huge plant which attract everyone’s eyes and is the most wanted plant
to all water lily lovers.
They float on the surface of the water and have thick ribs on the underside. Fragrant flowers open white and fade
to pink by the next day, after which they develop underwater into a fleshy fruit with black seeds. The seeds are
eaten by native Indians who call them “water maize”.
This is rare seed and the seed must stay in water all the time to keep them fresh.
They can not stay without water and dried seed will never germinate.
If you buy dried seeds to plant, you’ll never success.
